Little family of bears

 

Let me introduce this little bunch of guys. I started making these a few years ago, and for some reason, didn't finish them until the other night, all they needed was the arms sewn on!

Anyway, here they are, I think I'll be including them in the market at Freshwater Creek Steiner School, this Friday eve.

You'll see them on My etsy or Big Cartel, if they don't sell.

Growing plants

So, I was thinking about growing some plants for home, we're getting some little creatures for Christmas...Shhh, it's a big fat secret! And I thought it would be a good idea to get some food plants growing, so we can get the kids to feed them a few leaves, you know, keeping everything fresh.

Then I was asked to be in the local Steiner school twilight Fair, and I thought those guys would probably love some home grown plants too. So, I have some giant sunflowers,  mixed lettuce, bok choy, a few zuccinis, cucumbers, and mixed flowers. To transport the plants, from the seed raising beds, I have made these nifty boxes...which you may have seen being used to carry my jewels in. Yup, the same.

The great thing about these little containers is, to plant the plant, all you do is cut out the bottom, and plant the whole thing into the ground...the paper just disintegrates.

The finishing touches have to go on, like scarves...and they have to sewn up...so much to do!

I don't know if any of you noticed that my blog was broken, but now look! Fixed!! What a relief. I did have to get rid of some of my links...so, sorry to you "Oh hello Geelong" and a few others. Never mind : (
Yesterday I had a pretty average day at Yarraville markets, but did really enjoy seeing some old friends...and their new baby! So, it was good in the end. Hear are some pictures of some of my new stuff...

Moriac Growers and Makers Market

Well, today I had a wee look at the bits and pieces I have to take to market...Here's a sneek peek.

The choker is made from gorgeous French flower braid, that was bought in Paris recently, hand sewn onto a fine silk ruffle, wear it like a scarf / collar.

Next is a 'patchwork' of antique French fabrics made into another 'scarf-like' tie up necklace.

Then a smokey quartz, hand knotted necklace.

Here are some new necklaces featuring beautifully smooth white wood beads, discs and flattened squares. In between are lovely semi precious stones, red garnets,,,and green garnets.

These are pretty, and easy to wear with anything...They also are little collages of fabrics and beads.

In this picture you can see a very sparkley range of hand beaded bracelets, ear rings, crocheted bun nets...and my new origami fabric boxes.

The day started quite well, and I was very pleased to have sold 3 scarves before the market even opened. Then progressively the day slowed down, too much sunshine to be bothered to come inside to a market. But, an interesting experience, people wise...Plus, very nice to meet some folk that I have only chatted to via email. I am inspired to keep going with this market thing though, and I'll keep you posted as events come up.
